In an effort to promote sustainable urban development in Yemen, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), in collaboration with the local partner Ghadaq for Development, initiated the assessment and SWOT analysis activity as part of the “SIERY” project funded by the European Union. This activity focuses on several urban centers in the Taiz and Marib governorates, aiming to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges these centers encounter. The findings will contribute to the development of more comprehensive and sustainable strategies. This initiative supports local authorities and enhances urban planning to align with the specific needs of local communities and the sustainable development goals. The activity will involve the collection and analysis of field data from the targeted urban centers, with participation from local authorities, civil society organizations, and the private sector. Furthermore, it aims to provide practical recommendations that will strengthen local capacities in managing urban centers and foster partnerships among various stakeholders. The Ghadaq Organization, as a local partner in this endeavor, highlights the significance of engaging the local community in the assessment process. This involvement is crucial to ensure that development plans effectively address the aspirations and genuine needs of citizens.
