Within the framework of the ” Fishery Harbour Rehabilitation and Value Chain Development in Aden ” project (AFH) and within the component of improving employment opportunities for women and youth within the value chain implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the #GhadaqForDevelopment, With funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the German Development Bank (KfW).
The interview activity was implemented as a stage of the capacity building activity for beneficiaries. Interviews were conducted with a number of youth and women beneficiaries from the “Improving Employment Opportunities for Women and Men in the Value Chain” project. Taking into account gender, which is a primary goal of the project. The interviews included youth and women beneficiaries from the following Aden directorates: Seera, Khormaksar, Sheikh Othman, and Tawahi in 4 targeted associations: Seera Association, Al-Arish Association, Dolphin Association, and Rambo Association.
The interviews lasted for four days, during which the qualifications and professional needs of the youth and women beneficiaries were assessed in preparation for their training and empowerment in the fields of work related to the fishing sector and the value chain in the region. These interviews were attended by representatives of the Fisheries Authority, along with representatives from local authorities, the project team, the project consultant, and the heads of associations in each district, who provided support and advice to ensure the success of the selection process. This activity is part of the components of the “Rehabilitation of the Fisheries Port and Development of the Value Chain in Aden” project, which aims to enhance employment opportunities for women and youth in the marine fishing sector and improve their capacities in the fisheries value chain. The project includes training beneficiaries, both young men and women, on various skills in the fields of fishing, fish processing, and marketing, which contributes to linking them to the labor market and improving their economic and social conditions.
