Aden- Yemen

The activity to prepare urban resilience strategies in Taiz Governorate have officially commenced in Taiz, as part of the Strengthening Institutional and Economic Resilience in Yemen (SIERY) project. This initiative is funded by the European Union (EU Yemen), implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in Yemen (UNDP Yemen), and carried out in partnership with the Ghadaq for Development.
The initiative aims to enhance urban resilience, support effective local governance, and promote sustainable urban development in one of Yemen’s most dynamic yet challenging cities. It is built on a foundation of inclusive planning, data-driven analysis, and the active engagement of local stakeholders. These strategies are designed to strengthen the capacity of local authorities, improve access to basic services and infrastructure, promote urban planning and sustainable land use, and build resilience to climate change and conflict-related risks. Additionally, the initiative supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the local level. This joint effort represents a genuine commitment to rebuilding Yemeni cities in a comprehensive, resilient, and future-oriented manner.
