Twenty trainees have achieved remarkable success in a specialized training program on crafting accessories from seashells, as part of the “Improving Job Opportunities for Women and Youth in the Fishing Community and Value Chain” component. This initiative falls under the “Rehabilitation of the Fishing Port and Value Chain Development in Aden” project, implemented by the (UNDP Yemen) implemented through #GhadaqForDevelopment, and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the German Development Bank (KfW).
The training, held at the Technical Education and Vocational Training Institute in Al-Mualla district, showcased the participants’ passion and creativity as they learned innovative techniques to transform marine materials into unique products that reflect local heritage. The trainees were equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to establish their own projects in this field.
One of the trainees commented, “The training was an exceptional experience. We learned how to turn seashells into beautiful accessories. These skills open new doors for our future.”
This success highlights the ongoing efforts to empower women economically and support small and medium-sized enterprises, contributing to sustainable development and enabling women to play a greater role in building a more productive and stable society.
